First spatially resolved measurements of the D–<sup>3</sup>He <i>?</i>-particle source with the upgraded JET gamma-ray camera

The Joint European Torus (JET) gamma-ray camera has been recently upgraded with the installation of new detectors, based on LaBr3(Ce) scintillation crystals, which add spectroscopic capability to existing system allowing measurements good energy resolution (5% at 0.622 MeV), a dynamic range from hundreds keV up about 30 MeV, and high counting rate capabilities MCps. First during C38 campaign JET have successfully carried out, in particular, D–3He plasmas three-ion ion cyclotron resonance heating experiments, where detection 16.4 MeV ?-rays D + 3He ? ? 5Li reactions upgrade allowed determining spatial profile alpha particles born fusion reactions.
